Performance benchmarks

These numbers come from the most recent operator-attested reference run on the project’s reference machine — a 2020 M1 MacBook Air (8 GB / 256 GB) registered as a self-hosted GitHub Actions runner with the reference-m1air label. They are not gathered on shared CI runners; those numbers exist for regression detection but are too noisy to publish as ground truth. Raw history is in docs/perf/history.jsonl.

How these are measured

Each row is one of the bench surfaces defined in packages/gateway/src/perf/surfaces/. The pre-flight protocol (AC powered, no other workloads, fresh reboot) and the full surface catalogue are documented in the reference-runner setup guide.

The data file (packages/docs/public/perf/latest.json) is regenerated by packages/gateway/src/perf/derive-latest-json.ts on every reference run and committed alongside the new history line.
